Kerala’s serene Wayanad district was plunged into darkness on July 30, 2024, when torrential rains unleashed their fury, triggering a series of catastrophic landslides. The idyllic landscape was transformed into a scene of unimaginable destruction as entire hillsides collapsed, burying homes, lives, and hopes beneath tons of mud and debris.
The impact of this disaster was felt across the nation. Villages like Punjri Matom, Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, Meppadi, and Kunhome bore the brunt of the calamity. The loss of life was staggering, and countless others were left homeless, their lives shattered beyond repair.
Immediate rescue efforts were launched, with hundreds of personnel working tirelessly to search for survivors amidst the rubble. The nation stood united in grief, offering prayers and support to the affected families. However, the magnitude of the tragedy was such that the rescue operations were met with immense challenges.
